Description :

Qing Dynasty Chinese Tea Table
Antique Chinese tea table (often called a Chaji or pedestal stand), traditional to the late Qing Dynasty (19th century to early 20th century).

Typically constructed from high-quality Chinese hardwoods such as Hongmu (redwood) or elm, known for their deep, rich tones and natural durability.

Features classic openwork pierced carvings under the top tier, a middle open storage shelf bounded by subtle baluster railings, and a lower shelf featuring distinctive geometric latticework.
This tea table was crafted during the late Qing Dynasty or early Republic period, this painted text was added later, providing a unique historical record of its journey through mid-20th-century.

In the mid-1950s, the government of the People's Republic of China socialized private businesses (such as hotels, restaurants, tea houses, and wood workshops) into joint state-and-privately-operated entities. During this transition, all property belonging to the newly nationalized businesses—including high-quality hardwood furniture—was audited, cataloged, and physically stamped or painted with yellow/white lacquer as official institutional Fixed Assets.

This inscription serves as an authentic stamp of provenance, proving that the table survived the mid-century transition and was once utilized in a prominent public space, office, or estate during the socialist transformation era.
